Texas leads the nation in workplace deaths according to the Texas Tribune article titled
Workplace Deaths Up in Texas, Which Still Tops List
The Tribune reported that Texas had an increase of workplace deaths from 2013 to 2014.
In addition, Texas had a total of 524 deaths in 2014 compared to the second place state, California, with 334 deaths in the workplace. California is larger than Texas but only has 60 percent of the workplace deaths that Texas has.
California has a population of 37,955,293
Texas has a population of 26,027,061
So Texas only has 2/3rds of the population of California but has more than 33 percent more workplace deaths.
They say, “Everything’s bigger in Texas” and that is not good for the Texas worker.
